Fostering our Animals Fostering is a great way to volunteer! Perhaps you are considering adopting a dog, pup, cat or kitten and aren't 100% sure that you will be able to handle the responsibility. Fostering an animal can give you a good idea of what it would be like to have a pet. We always require foster families for our puppies, relinquished adult dogs and pregnant/lactating cats and their kittens. The Winnipeg Pet Rescue Shelter provides all foster families with food, food and water dishes, a leash and collar (for adult dogs and older puppies), a litterbox and litter (for pregnant/lactating cats and their kittens), blankets and toys, and support in case of emergency or other unforseen issues.
